Beer-Battered Trout

If you're fisherman who takes home enough catch to feed your family or enjoy a good shore lunch here is a classic recipe for tasty beer battered trout. For this recipe we'll be reffering to a rainbow or brook trout that are about 1lb but feel free to substitute to whatever your catching. Beer Battered Trout

What you'll need:

  • 6 Trout (1lb)
  • 2.5 cups of flour
  • 2 tsp of baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1tbsp mild curry powder
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups of room temperature beer
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • lemon slices

 

Wash and pat dry the trout and put into bag with 1/2 cup of flour. Shake thoroughly until fish is coated and set aside.

Heat cooking oil to 375 F

Next mix the remaining 2 cups of flour, baking powder, salt, curry powder, eggs, beer and olive oil. Mix well, until mixture runs smooth. Dip both sides of fish into the mixture.

Rainbow Trout Batter Recipe
Fry fish until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes turning once or twice. Remove fish and let drain on paper towel. Splash with lemon juice if desired.
